For returning students signing up for an IB Merit course for the Spring 2026 semester:
Are you currently taking a chemistry, math, or biology Merit course during the Fall 2025 semester?
- If YES: You are pre-approved to sign up for any Spring 2026 IB Merit course, space permitting. You do not need to get specific authorization or additional approval; simply see the instructions for course sign up below and sign up during your registration time.
- If NO: You will need to request approval to sign up for Merit for the Spring 2026 semester by filling out this webform. This approval will be granted on Thursday, November 20, 2025. On or after that date, please see instructions for signing up below.

IB 150 (IB 199) Merit and AAP Sign-Up Instructions
IB 150 Merit sign up instructions:
IB 150 Merit replaces the regular IB 150 discussion sections (which meet once weekly for 50 minutes) with Merit discussion sections (which meet once weekly for 50 minutes) and Merit seminars (which meet once weekly for 1 hour 50 minutes). To sign up for IB 150 with Merit, follow the directions below.
- Sign up for the IB 150 AL1 lecture (CRN 34480) and the IB 150 Merit discussion time you want from the following options by adding both lecture and discussion CRNs at the same time:
a. AM1 discussion (CRN 50401) for Wednesdays at 11:00 AM + Friday seminar
b. AM2 discussion (CRN 57931) for Wednesdays at 12:00 PM + Friday seminar - Sign up for IB 199 MRA (CRN 52938). This is the extra hour of credit you get for taking the IB Merit course. This class does not actually meet. You earn credit for the IB 199 class through participation in your IB 150 Merit Wednesday discussion section and Friday seminar (from step 1).

IB 202 – Physiology (IB 299) Merit Sign-Up Instructions
IB 202 Merit is an extra IB 299 class (section A) which meets once per week for 1 hour 50 minutes. To sign up for IB 202 Merit, first, register for the IB 202 lecture you want, and any laboratory section (if required). Then, register for the IB 299 section below. There are two options for IB 202 lectures:
- Lecture + laboratory for 4 credit hours – required for IB majors, available for non-majors to enroll by waitlist (CRN 34641).
- Lecture alone for 3 credit hours – for non-IB majors (CRN 59272). *If there is a possibility you will decide to major in IB, it is recommended you take the 4-hour class, which includes lab.
- Add the IB 299A Merit section (CRN 54957).
